Sinabung Volcano

Rising impressively volcano-like 2460m above the the Karo Highlands and situated a little to the west of Berastagi, Sinabung is a more challenging climb than the nearby Sibayak Volcano and a guide is definitely recommended. There are a few routes to the top and you should expect to scramble up in places. You will need a full day to complete the trip, beginning at 5am and should take suitable clothes for poor weather, as well as sun protection and provisions. It is possible to camp on Sinabung and also to visit the nearby lake.
