Where to Stay in Tangkahan

Mega Inn

There are only four places to stay in Tangkahan and three of them are situated on the far side of the Batang Serang River where it meets the crystal clear waters of another small river. Mega Inn is the first one you see as you cross the river, perched as it is on the opposite steep bank. It's a very pleasant place with rooms surrounding a well-kept garden and a very small cafe. Rooms are Rp 75,000.

Bambu River

Bamboo River was unfortunate enough to have its restaurant and bar burn down several months ago and cosequently it has temporarily lost its former glory while renovations are in progress. However, it is still a beautiful setting with views out over the river and jungle; they are still open for business and you can while away the hours chatting to Jane the English owner or wade just across the river for a soak under the waterfall. Breakfast and lunch are priced at Rp 25,000 and dinner, which consists of various dishes of authentically prepared Indonesian food and is well worth the Rp 50,000 that it's priced at.  They have six rooms for Rp 110,000.

Jungle Lodge

Well-named, as it really is in amongst the jungle, Jungle Lodge has some lovely rooms spread around the spacious grounds, with balconies and hammocks and a wonderful restaurant that overlooks the river; you can almost see where the hot-spring that feeds into the river is from here. The food is good and well-priced. Room prices range from Rp 70,000 to Rp 150,000.
