Where
to Go

About “Hello Mister Travel”The mission is simple. We want you to enjoy Sumatra and to experience all the best parts of it. It can be daunting arriving in a country that you know little about. You don’t speak the language, you’re wary of being ripped off by unscrupulous touts, you don’t know where’s best to stay and are sure that everyone and his dog will be at the Lonely Planet recommended hotels. Your guide book tells you there are buses to catch but you don’t know where they are and the accompanying map shows you only five percent of the city centre. You’ve got a cumbersome bag or two with you which makes you painfully conspicuous, it’s eleven o’ clock at night, you’re jet-lagged and it’s raining. This is not the picture that underpaid writer from LP painted for you. Our job is to smooth over these irksome cracks in the two or three week break that you’ve just taken from work and ensure that you have a hassle-free time to enjoy the many delights that this island has to offer. OrganisationThe transport system in Sumatra is basic to say the least; good reliable and up-to-date information is scarce and nothing gets done quickly. Which is why, when you are on a limited time schedule, and just want to relax, that it’s better to let the people who know the area and have the local contacts arrange things for you. FlexibilityWe operate regular, planned trips throughout the year that anybody can join; we consider them full when we have eight people booked in. We also offer custom tours where the itinerary is chosen by you, using our unique menu-style booking system. You can decide where you want to go, what you want to do, how basic or luxurious you want your accommodation to be, if you want to travel by local buses or car and also whether you’d like a Western guide to accompany or meet up with you at selected places. These tours can be exclusive to you and your friends or you can open them up to others. Local KnowledgeOne of the things that Hello Mister feels is most important, is that we bring work and custom to the Sumatrans themselves. We encourage interaction with these charming people and work with only the best local people and guides. Choosing a Western guide to accompany you in no way takes work away from locals as we still rely on their expert knowledge. |

is quite long and arduous -- three to four hours should be allowed --
but as one approaches the lake's shores, one is simultaneously filled
with a sense of relief and exciting anticipation about what is about to
